Cleanse first. Always on clean skin. I use my regular double cleanse — oil cleanser then CeraVe hydrating cleanser — and pat dry before putting the mask on. Anything on the skin surface will just absorb the light before it can reach where you need it to.
No serums or actives beforehand. Particularly no retinol or AHAs on the nights I use the mask. I either do the mask first or I save those for the following evening. Photosensitising ingredients and LED light therapy are not a good combination.
10–15 minutes, eyes closed. I set a timer, settle in and genuinely do nothing. This is the part most people underestimate — the stillness is as much a part of the practice as the light. I use it in the evenings, usually three to four times a week.
Hyaluronic acid and moisturiser straight after. Your skin is warm and circulation is increased immediately after a session — this is the optimal moment for hydration to absorb. I apply my hyaluronic acid serum within two minutes of removing the mask and follow with my night moisturiser.
Consistency over frequency. Three to four times per week, consistently, over at least six weeks will deliver more than seven times per week for two weeks. This is the single most important thing to understand about LED therapy. Give it time.
This is not about chasing a younger version of yourself. It is about supporting your skin in a way that feels sustainable, gentle and real — giving it what it needs to do its job well.
